This raisonne is still in progress. Although the basic list is complete, more detailed edition information will be added in addition to states and trial proofs.
Dates:
-In the case of a dated, numbered edition with earlier trial proofs, states, etc., the date of the numbered edition is used. There is an exception for published series in which the publication date is preferred (see below). Earlier dates of proofs and states will be noted in the description.
-For series that were published as book illustrations (Negro Bible, 100 Years Ago, The Mohawk, and Look Homeward Angel) the date of the publication is used even if trial proofs, states, or editions are dated differently. The dates of proofs, states, and editions, if different from the publication date, will be noted in the description.
-When a later numbered edition was printed from an earlier matrix, following a first numbered edition contemporaneous to the matrix, the date of the edition is used, but the raisonne.org number remains the same. In the description, there will be a date with the date of the matrix first followed by the date of the later edition separated by a back slash. For example: 1964/1986.
-When the first numbered edition was printed later than the matrix was made, the date of the matrix is used and a note of the date of the edition printing will be made in the description.
-If an edition was begun in one year and finished in another year non-continuously, the date of the beginning of the edition is used and a note on its completion date will be in the description.
-When the printing of the numbered edition seems to have spanned more than one year, the dates are connected by a hyphen: 1991-1992.
